Joyce Hanks Community Center

About our center

The Joyce E. Hanks Community Center is named after a former city council member, and has become a hub of activity. One might find classes including yoga, cooking, or CPR. Boy and Girl Scouts meet at the center along with 12 Step programs, knitting and painting groups and an active senior citizen group.

Behind the center is a landscaped gazebo, seating, grill, picnic tables and playground equipment so residents can enjoy the awesome beauty of Lake Erie. Sunset are particularly stunning.

The center features two rooms with large windows and beautiful views looking out at Lake Erie. Our west room, or “Sunset room”, has a capacity of 250 guests with a full kitchen available to use as well as thirty round 5′ tables and thirty rectangular 6′ long tables. Our east room, or “Sunrise Room”, has a capacity of 49 guests with a small kitchenette and 6′ rectangular tables available.

Rental Information

A $200 security deposit is required to finalize a reservation.  The deposit is refundable after the event has concluded and the rented area has been found free of damage and properly cleaned up by the renter.  More information about the deposit as well as other general rental information can be found HERE.

Please contact our manager for more information or to confirm availability of the building. Reservations are done on a first come, first served basis, no more than 1 year prior to the date of an event. The availability of our facilities can be found on our google calendar but please remember that information shown is not updated in real time and is subject to change at any time. Requesting a date listed as “Available” is not a reservation.

You may now print and fill out the rental agreement above.  Please be sure to write legibly or the agreement may not be accepted.  You may scan and email the form to the centers manager, however, simply sending in the agreement does not guarantee your reservation until you have received confirmation from the manager.  When the date(s) have been confirmed and deposit has been made, you will receive a signed copy back.
