Children’s art featured at July 24 show
Artwork created by local children ages 6 to 11 can be viewed Monday, July 24, 6:30 p.m. at Joyce Hanks Community Center, 4575 Lake Road. The art show is open to the community and is free of charge.
Nearly two dozen children participated in the annual Summer Arts program. Displayed art projects will include scrapbooks, canvas-painted self portraits, ceramic pendants, mini ceramic flower vases, bird cages, nature-themed nightlights, fairy gardens, lavender sachets, pine cone bird feeders, and thank you cards to our veterans and other community helpers.
Resident Deb Suarez, a retired elementary school teacher, organized a group of teacher friends to work with the kids every Monday afternoon for six weeks. “Kids have enjoyed working with Eastside artist Lynn Maragliano this year to make nature-based art,” Suarez said, adding, “and have learned about our Sheffield Lake safety forces. Our support of their creativity can be shown by attending this one-time event.”
