April 26 meeting focuses on center programming
A second Town Hall to continue discussion about programming residents would like to see at the Joyce Hanks Community Center is set for Wednesday, Apr. 26, 6 p.m. at the center, 4575 Lake Road. All residents are encouraged to attend.
Mayor Dennis Bring hosted a Town Hall with residents Wednesday, March 22. Some of the ideas floated at the meeting include creating a community garden on vacant land across the street from the center; Mommy and Me classes, photography club, bocci ball, fishing club, or a set time each week for pick up card or board games.
Plans are afoot to host an open house so residents can learn about organizations currently meeting at the center including Cub, Boy and Girls Scouts, arts, knitting, yoga and 12 step programs.
Mayor Dennis Bring also discussed the possibility of establishing a community transportation program and Parks Board member Jonathon Wright discussed the position of Recreation Director, which the Mayor has previously pledged to bring on board this year.
