Resident input sought

Residents are urged to share their views about significant development projects the city may undertake in the next five years. Sheffield Lake Planning Commission has developed a ten question survey that will help guide their work as they update the plan.

The Master Plan is used in grant applications and to assist officials in prioritizing projects that are funded. In the past six years, the city obtained federal, state and local grants totaling $20 million.

Some of the funded projects included the expansion of the Joyce Hanks Civic Center, expansion of the Fire Department, improvements at the boat launch and in all ten parks across the city. Among the improvements were new playground equipment, picnic tables, grills and restrooms. Grant funds covered equipment to create a skate board park. A new playground will be constructed at Gary Green Park this year. The Lincoln Trail will be completed later this spring.

Significant infrastructure improvements saw sewer, waterlines and/or pavement replacement on Abbe, Irving Park, Harris, Lake Breeze, Community and Roberts. This year, $4 million in improvements will be made to drainage and paving on Lake Road, waterlines and pavement on Alameda, and resurfacing Ivanhoe.

The survey should take less than 3 minutes to complete. Responses will be tabulated electronically.
